Roedean Science Challenge
Today ten Brambletye girls went to Roedean to take part in their Science Challenge.
First a look at time in Physics
Then to Chemistry to analyse some chemicals
Finally Biology where the girls found out which snacks had the most energy
We were well looked after by Roedean and their Science staff were very complimentary about the girls’ ability in the lab.
Well done

Year 7 look at stoma under the microscope
Year 7 have been working on photosynthesis and today they looked at prints from the underside of leaves through the microscope. They saw the little holes through which carbon dioxide enters the leaf. These are called stoma. See them hard at work here:
Year 6 meet the Bunsen burner
Today 6G explored the heating abilities of the Bunsen burner. They learned how to light it safely and saw the different flames it could produce. See them in action below:

Y7 work with acids and alkalis
Year 7 used titration to work out which sample of acid was more concentrated.
This follows their testing soils to see if they are acidic or alkaline
