Year 6 arrive at the Millennium Seed Bank

Year 6 are visiting Wakehurst today and here they are learning about the important work they do at the Millennium seed bank.

Introduction to magnets workshop. The children had fun testing different objects. They recorded their results in a chart.

4B Separate Solids and Liquids

As you can see from the pictures below, 4B have once again visited the Science lab, this time in the pursuit of separating five different mixtures.

Year 8 Chemistry

After the end of term exams Year 8 have been looking parts of the Chemistry syllabus to consolidate their knowledge. We have been discussing physical changes.

First they looked at the physical change when glass is heated. They were able to change the shape of the glass.

Then they looked into separating a mixture of rock salt. They designed their method and documented it on the Science department iPads. Once the separation was complete they presented their work as a keynote presentation. 

Food groups

One Year 7 class have been putting their knowledge of the food groups to good use this morning. During our lesson we went to the dining room and labelled the dishes that will be served for lunch today.
