7C make and test Red Cabbage Indicator.

Today 7C extracted the dye from a red cabbage by dissolving the dye in hot water.

They ground the cabbage in hot water to speed up dissolving

Once they had extracted the colour they filtered the mixture

 

 

Then they used the filtrate to test household and lab liquids

The wonderful array of colours were then used to record the results

And then a comparison was made between Universal indicator and our own Red Cabbage Indicator

The indicator colours were the same for acid but different for neutral and alkali
